"Curry-Competition": A Wonderful First Book Review!

Hallo Welt!

Täglich neue, feine Neuigkeiten! In der deutsch-thailändischen Zeitschrift Der Farang wird in der nächsten Ausgabe die erste Kritik zu meinem als Buch erhältlichen Reisebericht Curry-Competition – Mit dem Rucksack durch Thailand erscheinen! Und die Rezension liest sich richtig gut. Soll heißen: Das Buch hat den Härtetest bestanden und wird vom Rezensenten Björn Jahner sehr gelobt!

Ein kleiner Auszug:

Es erscheint vor allem für Thailand-Neulinge als eine attraktive Lektüre, da das Buch die noch völlig unvoreingenommenen Erlebnisse und Empfindungen eines Backpackers widerspiegelt, die unverfälschter nicht sein könnten. Doch auch Thailand-Experten und -Residenten, denen die zahlreichen kleinen exotischen Besonderheiten schon längst nicht mehr auffallen, werden auf amüsante Art und Weise zum Schmunzeln gebracht.

Und weil es so schön ist, noch ein Auszug aus der eine komplette Seite füllenden und mit Bildern verzierten Kritik:

Lustig und informativ: Knickel gelingt mit einem jungen, frechen Sprachstil mit Romancharakter, verpackt in einem ansprechenden und liebevoll gestalteten Layout, der Brückenschlag zwischen einem voller Emotionen und Gedanken geladenen Reisetagebuch und dank zahlreicher selbst recherchierter Restaurant- und Übernachtungstipps eines Travel Guides.

Ich möchte mich hiermit auch noch einmal bei meinem Superfreund Alexander Mink für das Buchcover bedanken. Gleiches gilt den LektorInnen Wolfgang Knickel, Greta Höche, Melanie Murat und Anna Göbel. Ein spezieller Dank geht natürlich an Rebekka, die nicht nur die Erlebnisse in Thailand mit mir geteilt hat, sondern auch Korrektur gelesen und die Landkarten handgezeichnet hat. Saubere Arbeit und kop khun mak krap! 🙂

Also auf zum nächsten Kiosk und die neue Ausgabe vom »Farang« kaufen! »Curry-Competition« kann man natürlich auch nach wie vor überall käuflich erwerben – in der Printausgabe und als E-Book!

Zur Bespaßung: Unter anderem wird in »Curry-Competition« übrigens über Erlebnisse wie jenes in nachfolgendem Video berichtet, welches ich im wunderbaren Chiang Mai aufgenommen habe. Man beachte nicht nur die Augenbinden der vier Bekloppten, sondern auch den Einsatz des Ringrichters – speziell am Ende des Spektakels. Kommentare sind erwünscht. Und jetzt: Viel Spaß! 🙂

Fine new news every day! In the next issue of the German-Thai magazine Der Farang, the first review of my travelogue Curry-Competition – Mit dem Rucksack durch Thailand, now available as a book, will be published! And the review reads really well. In other words: The book has passed the acid test and is highly praised by reviewer Björn Jahner!

A short excerpt:

It appears to be attractive reading especially for Thailand newcomers, as the book reflects the completely unbiased experiences and impressions of a backpacker in a way that could hardly be more unfiltered. But Thailand experts and residents, too, who long ago stopped noticing the many small exotic peculiarities, will be amused and made to smile.

And because it is so nice, here is another excerpt from the review, which fills a complete page and is decorated with pictures:

Funny and informative: With a young, cheeky writing style that has the character of a novel, wrapped in an appealing and lovingly designed layout, Knickel succeeds in bridging the gap between a travel diary loaded with emotions and thoughts and, thanks to numerous self-researched restaurant and accommodation tips, a travel guide.

For entertainment purposes: Among other things, "Curry-Competition" also reports on experiences like the one in the following video, which I recorded in wonderful Chiang Mai.
