»Curry-Competition«: Zweite Auflage erscheint noch vor Weihnachten!

What?! Wieso?

Der Hauptgrund für den Rausschmiss der Fotos ist der neue Preis für die zweite Auflage von »Curry-Competition«: Anstatt 23,50 € wird die Printfassung der zweiten Auflage nur noch 7,99 € kosten! Der Preis für das E-Book schrumpft von bisher 11,99 € auf süße 5,49 €. Ich find’s fett.

Aber die Fotos haben doch einen großen Reiz ausgemacht, das Buch überhaupt zu kaufen!

Das mag sein. Die Fotos sind aber auch gar nicht wirklich weg. Nein, es wird tatsächlich sogar viel mehr Fotos und – oh yeah – Videos geben! Ein jeder Buchbesitzer hat nämlich – wie auch schon bei Serendipity – das Anrecht auf einen kostenfreien Premium-Account auf dieser Website. Änderung Nr. 2

Ich habe den kleinen Restaurantführer am Ende des Buches entfernt. Durch die Entfernung der Restauranttipps und die Entfernung der Fotos schrumpft das Buch von bisher 256 Seiten auf lässige 184 Seiten. Und was schrumpft dadurch ebenfalls? Richtig: Der Preis fürs Buch. Kein Witz: Hätte ich die vier Seiten Restauranttipps drinbehalten, würde das Buch gleich einen Euro mehr kosten.

Aber die Restauranttipps sind doch voll interessant!

Auch richtig. Allerdings kann ich nicht garantieren, dass die im Anhang gelobten Restaurants heute auch alle noch existieren. Und aus eigener Erfahrung weiß ich, wie ätzend es ist, wegen eines Reiseführers stundenlang ein bestimmtes Restaurant zu suchen, nur um dann vor einem neu eröffneten Handyshop zu landen. Außerdem gilt wieder einmal: Die Tipps sind nicht weg! Nein, sie sind lediglich nur noch auf dieser schicken Website im Premium-Bereich für alle Curry-Leser einzusehen.

Änderung Nr. 3

Natürlich wurde auch der Text etwas überarbeitet. Hier fallen die Änderungen allerdings – verglichen mit den oben genannten Punkten – eher unauffällig aus. Hier und da habe ich Preisangaben gekürzt, der ein oder andere Rechtschreibfehler wurde ausgemerzt, manch ein Satz umgebaut, die Schrift leicht verkleinert und neu gesetzt etc.

Gestrichen wurde ebenso wenig wie neue Kapitel oder Geschichten hinzugefügt. Inhaltlich bleibt also quasi alles beim Alten.

Ich will aber lieber die dickere Ausgabe mit Fotos und Restauranttipps!

In diesem Fall empfehle ich Dir, schnellstens zu handeln. Denn sobald die zweite Auflage veröffentlicht wird, wird – meines Wissens nach – die erste Auflage nicht mehr im Handel erhältlich sein und bald schon zu einem Sammlerstück von unschätzbarem Wert avancieren. Eine Anlage für die Zukunft also. Denke an Deine Kinder und Kindeskinder … 😉

Ein alternativer Geschenktipp

What?! Why?

Yes, this is obviously the most drastic change compared to the first edition. But the photos were a big part of what made the book worth buying in the first place!

That may be true. But the photos aren’t really gone. In fact, there will actually be many more photos and – oh yeah – videos! Every book owner will be entitled to a free premium account on this website, just like with Serendipity. All you have to do is send me proof of purchase by email. And just like that, I’ll set up your premium account for "Curry-Competition" as quickly as possible. Change No. 2

I have removed the little restaurant guide at the end of the book. By removing the restaurant tips and the photos, the book shrinks from 256 pages to a relaxed 184 pages. And what else shrinks as a result? Exactly: the price of the book. No joke: if I had kept those four pages of restaurant tips, the book would immediately cost one euro more.

But the restaurant tips are really interesting!

True as well. However, I can’t guarantee that all the restaurants praised in the appendix still exist today. And from my own experience, I know how annoying it is to spend hours looking for a particular restaurant because of a travel guide, only to end up standing in front of a newly opened mobile phone shop. Besides, once again: the tips are not gone! No, they are simply available only in the premium area of this fancy website for all Curry readers.

Change No. 3

Of course, the text has also been revised a little. Compared to the points mentioned above, however, these changes are rather subtle. Here and there I shortened price references, eliminated the occasional typo, rebuilt the odd sentence, slightly reduced the font size, reset the layout, and so on.

Nothing was cut, and no new chapters or stories were added either. In terms of content, almost everything remains the same.

But I’d rather have the thicker edition with photos and restaurant tips!

In that case, I recommend acting fast. Because as soon as the second edition is released, the first edition will – as far as I know – no longer be available in stores and will soon become a collector’s item of immeasurable value. An investment in the future, in other words. Think of your children and your children’s children… 😉
