O Canada! "Memories" Will Be Screened in Toronto!
Am 14. MÀrz habe ich eine Mail aus Kanda erhalten: »Hi Dennis, we heard about your short film through the film circuit. Sounds like you have yourself a terrific film.«
Ich habe zwar noch immer keinen Plan, was es mit dem ominösen »film circuit« auf sich hat, bin ihm aber schwer dankbar, denn nun darf »Erinnerungen« eine weitere, eine neue Stecknadel in seine Weltkarte der Filmfestivals stecken. Am 26. September lĂ€uft unser Film beim allmonatlichen WILDdsound Film Festival in Toronto und somit zum ersten Mal ĂŒberhaupt in Kanada. Das WILDsound Film Festival ist eine sehr spezielle Veranstaltung: ein Feedbackfestival! Hier werden keine Preise verliehen â die Auszeichnung ist bereits die VorfĂŒhrung in dieser »Best of Shorts« genannten Reihe. Stattdessen wird das Publikum direkt nach der VorfĂŒhrung eines jeden einzelnen Films zu ebendiesem befragt.
Ein Q&A? Was ist daran so besonders? Nun, zunĂ€chst einmal werden keine Fragen an den Filmemacher gestellt â es sei denn, mir schenkt noch schnell jemand einen Flug nach Kanada, dann werde ich bestimmt auch was gefragt â, sondern direkt Kritiken vorgetragen. Der Clou dabei ist, dass die Macher des Festivals die Zuschauer bei ihren vorgetragenen Meinungen filmen und dies dann ins Internet stellen. Somit bekommen wir alle im Nachhinein mit, wie »Erinnerungen« von den Kanadiern angenommen wurde. Nach eigener Aussage des Festivals sind die VorfĂŒhrungen zudem immer proppenvoll, was die bisher hochgeladenen Videos eindrucksvoll belegen. Ach, was bin ich schon gespannt!

I received an e-mail on March 14th: "Hi Dennis, we heard about your short film through the film circuit. Sounds like you have yourself a terrific film."
I still donât know what the film circuit is, but I love it! Of course, I sent "Memories" to the writer of those lines, and now, five months later, our movie can pop another, a new pin into its world map of film festivals as itâs going to be screened during Torontoâs monthly WILDsound Film Festival on September 26th. For the very first time: Canada! Rock and roll! The WILDsound Film Festival is a pretty special event: itâs a feedback festival! No movies are going to be awarded â the "award" is this screening called "Best of Shorts" â, but the audience will have to review the just seen movies.
A Q&A? Whatâs so special about it? Well, first of all, the people in the audience are not asking the filmmakers about the making of the movie and stuff like that, but telling the others sourrounding them what they think about it. Yes, they immediately discuss and review the movies! On top of that, the makers of the festival record those spoken reviews and publish it online, so everyone can see how much the Canadians liked or disliked the screened movies. The festival says that nearly all of its screenings are regularly sold out. The so far published videos confirm this impressively. I am already so excited!
Ah, and please let me know, if you feel like you want to send me there in person, own a private jet or plan a little cruise there. My birthday is approaching and so is Christmas, too. Right? đ
