WILDsound Film Festival Toronto: Das Feedback der Zuschauer ist online!

Vergangenen Donnerstag feierte »Erinnerungen« seine Kanadapremiere. Ich habe die Premiere im Stillen gefeiert und fragte mich, wie lange es wohl dauern wird, bis das Video mit dem Feedback der Zuschauer online sein wird. Die Antwort lautet: keine fünf Tage! Die zweite und weitaus wichtigere Frage, die mir durch den Kopf ging, war jedoch: Wie kam der Film bei den Torontonians an? Auch hierauf kenne ich nun die Antwort, die weder ich noch das Team vom WILDsound Film Festival länger vorenthalten möchten.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit den Reaktionen der Zuschauer. Es wurde diskutiert: Was steht im Fokus? Die Liebe oder Selbstmord? Es wurde sich über die Sex-auf-der-Waldlichtung-Szene amüsiert. Es wurde darüber philosophiert, ob es mehr Mut abverlangt, mit dem Schmerz weiterzuleben oder Suizid zu begehen, und einmal mehr wurde die Technik, speziell die Kameraarbeit, aufs Höchste gelobt.

Wahrscheinlich war dies das letzte Festival, auf dem »Erinnerungen« gezeigt wurde. Ich finde, dass es ein großartiges Finale für eine rundum gelungene, weltweite Tour darstellt: Der Film wurde in sechs Ländern (inklusive elf verschiedener US-Bundesstaaten und Guam) auf vier Kontinenten gezeigt.

Sobald ich mit meinem Buch fertig bin, werde ich mich dann auch mal endlich wieder ums Filmemachen kümmern können. Es wird wirklich mal wieder Zeit …

Hello world!

"Memories" had its Canadian premiere last Thursday. I quietly celebrated the premiere at home and wondered how long it would take until the audience feedback video would be online. The answer is: less than five days! Of course, the second and much more important question running through my head was: Did the Torontonians like the movie? I now know the answer to that question as well, and neither I nor the team of the WILDsound Film Festival want to hold it back any longer.

I’m very satisfied with the audience’s reactions. They discussed the focus of the story: Is it about suicide or much more about love? They were amused by the "Have you ever had sex in the woods?" situation. They philosophized about whether it takes more courage to take one’s own life or to keep living with the pain. And, once more, they praised the technical aspects of our movie, especially the cinematography.

This was probably the last festival at which "Memories" was shown. I think it’s a fantastic finale for an altogether successful world tour: "Memories" was screened in six different countries (including eleven different US states plus Guam) on four continents.

As soon as I’m done with my book, I’ll finally be able to take care of filmmaking again. It’s really about time, I guess…
