Überraschung: »Erinnerungen« lief auf einem weiteren Festival …

Ja, das ist schon komisch, auf der einen Seite sehr schön, auf der anderen Seite aber auch durchaus traurig: Da läuft »Erinnerungen« auf so einigen Festivals in Amerika, in Indien, Spanien, und derzeit auch auf Facebook, nur in Deutschland wurde er bislang noch nicht allzu oft gezeigt, was auch gleichzeitig bedeutet, dass ich meinen Film nicht wirklich oft persönlich präsentieren konnte.

Wie ich nun aber durch Zufall erfahren habe, lief unser Filmchen einmal mehr als gedacht in Deutschland! Und jetzt wird’s traurig: Das 3. West-Östliche Filmfestival (WÖFF) lief quasi bei mir um die Ecke, in Michael Verhoevens Kino Toni auf dem Antonplatz in Berlin … keine 15 Minuten von meiner Haustür entfernt.

Auf die Frage, weshalb ich nichts davon mitbekommen habe und keine Einladung erhielt, antwortete mir das Festival, dass sie explizit auf ihrer Website darauf hingewiesen hatten: »Die angenommenen Beiträge sind ab März auf der Internet-Seite www.ars-cinema.de aufgelistet. Einen Bescheid für jeden Film können wir aufgrund des Aufwandes leider nicht verschicken.«

Tja, dumm gelaufen. Da ich massenhaft Festivals angeschrieben habe, habe ich mir diese Info nirgends notiert und habe dementsprechend die Vorführung verpasst. Quel malheur …

Noch ärgerlicher wird all das, wenn ich mir ansehe, welch hochinteressante Jury das 3. West-Östliche Kurzfilmfestival in Berlin-Weißensee aufzubieten hatte:

»Eine mit dem namhaften Regisseur Gunter Scholz, der Filmpublizistin Margit Voss, der Dramaturgin Renate Epperlein und dem Filmkritiker Dr. Helmut Ludwig besetzte Jury diskutierte mit den west-östlichen Filmemachern und Gästen aus Berlin und Deutschland jeden einzelnen Film: ein Austausch über inhaltliche wie ästhetische Vorzüge und Mängel, Technik und Professionalismus des Filmens. So fanden sich in diesem Jahr zahlreiche Kurzspielfilme, Dokumentationen und Animationsfilme, die man sonst kaum woanders sehen kann. Dies und auch die Nähe zu den Bürgern im Berlin-Weißenseer Kiez machen die Spezifik des Festivals aus, das von Filmclub ars cinema e. V. seit 18 Jahren immer wieder engagiert und mit viel Herz ehrenamtlich – genau wie die Filmemacher es sind – organisiert wird.« (Quelle: Stiftung West-Östliche Begegnungen)

Herr Hässelbarth vom WÖFF schreibt mir: »Von der Jury [...] wurde Ihr Film sehr positiv aufgenommen.«

Yes, it is strange — very nice on the one hand, but also quite sad on the other: “Erinnerungen” (“Memories”) is being screened at quite a few festivals in America, in India, in Spain, and currently also on Facebook, but in Germany it has not been shown all that often so far, which also means that I have not really had many chances to present my film in person.

As I have now found out by chance, however, our little film was screened in Germany one more time than I thought! And now comes the sad part: The 3rd West-East Film Festival (WÖFF) took place practically around the corner from me, at Michael Verhoeven’s Kino Toni on Antonplatz in Berlin … less than 15 minutes from my front door.

When I asked why I had not heard about it and had not received an invitation, the festival replied that they had explicitly pointed this out on their website: “The accepted entries will be listed on the website www.ars-cinema.de from March onward. Unfortunately, due to the amount of work involved, we cannot send out individual notifications for each film.”

Well, bad luck. Since I had contacted tons of festivals, I did not make a note of this information anywhere and therefore missed the screening. Quel malheur …

All of this becomes even more annoying when I look at the highly interesting jury the 3rd West-East Short Film Festival in Berlin-Weißensee had to offer:

“A jury consisting of renowned director Gunter Scholz, film publicist Margit Voss, dramaturge Renate Epperlein and film critic Dr. Helmut Ludwig discussed every single film with the West-East filmmakers and guests from Berlin and Germany: an exchange about strengths and weaknesses in terms of content and aesthetics, technique and the professionalism of filmmaking. This year, numerous short fiction films, documentaries and animated films were shown that can hardly be seen anywhere else. This, together with the festival’s closeness to the people in Berlin-Weißensee’s neighborhood, defines the specific character of the festival, which has been organized by Filmclub ars cinema e. V. for 18 years with commitment, heart and voluntary work — just like the filmmakers themselves.” (Source: Stiftung West-Östliche Begegnungen)
