Hallo Welt!
Gestern Abend wurde ich von Matthew Toffolo aus Toronto angerufen. Matthew ist der Gründer und Chef des WILDsound Film Festival, dem Feedbackfestival, auf dem »Erinnerungen« vor zwei Wochen seine Kanadapremiere feierte. Matthew selbst ist ebenfalls Filmemacher. Sein erfolgreichster Kurzfilm »Beautiful« hat über fünf Millionen Klicks auf YouTube. Das WILDsound Film Festival gibt es seit 2007. Die Website wird täglich von mehr als 100.000 Besuchern angesteuert – mit steigender Tendenz. Als umso erfreulicher empfinde ich es, dass Matthew auch mich um ein Interview bat. Ich habe zwar am Telefon nicht immer alles verstanden und teilweise doch etwas sehr holprig geantwortet, aber … haha, passt schon. Überzeugt euch selbst …

Das WILDsound Film Festival ist eine sehr spezielle Veranstaltung: ein Feedbackfestival! Hier werden keine Preise verliehen – die Auszeichnung ist bereits die Vorführung in dieser »Best of Shorts« genannten Reihe. Stattdessen wird das Publikum direkt nach der Vorführung eines jeden einzelnen Films zu ebendiesem befragt. […] Der Clou dabei ist, dass die Macher des Festivals die Zuschauer bei ihren vorgetragenen Meinungen filmen und dies dann ins Internet stellen.

Matthew Toffolo from Toronto called me yesterday. Matthew is the founder and director of the WILDsound Film Festival, the feedback festival where "Memories" had its Canadian premiere two weeks ago. Matthew is a filmmaker himself. His most successful short film, "Beautiful", has more than five million views on YouTube. The WILDsound Film Festival was established in 2007. The festival's website receives more than 100,000 visitors per day, and the numbers are rising. That makes it all the more pleasing that Matthew also asked me for an interview. I did not always understand everything on the phone and sometimes answered rather haltingly, but... haha, I think it is okay. See for yourself...

The WILDsound Film Festival is a pretty special event: it’s a feedback festival. No films are awarded — the "award" is already the screening itself in this series called "Best of Shorts". Instead, the audience reviews each film directly after watching it. […] On top of that, the festival team records these spoken reviews and publishes them online, so everyone can see how much the Canadians liked or disliked the screened films.
